Video of All-Party Forum on the Health of Albertans now availableOn Tuesday April 10th, the APCCP hosted an All-Party Forum on the Health of Albertans in the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy. This public forum provided political parties in Alberta with an opportunity to share their perspectives on preventing disease and helping Albertans ‘stay healthy’ and out of the health care system. May 9, 2012 - Canadian Cancer Society, AB/NWT - News Release Smoking-Related Cancer Statistic Reveal Gender Divide CALGARY – Lung cancer deaths among Canadian women this year will be nearly double that of breast cancer deaths. Lung cancer – the most preventable cancer – continues to be the number one cancer killer among men and women, according to the latest annual Canadian Cancer Statistics report, released today by the Canadian Cancer Society. “The good news is that lung cancer rates are somewhat lower in Alberta compared to other provinces,” says Angeline Webb of the Canadian Cancer Society. “However, the numbers are still staggering – more than 1,500 Albertans will needlessly lose their lives this year to a disease that is largely preventable.” Read more here. |
